Thank you so much for taking the time to visit our page. This cause is very dear to my heart, and I appreciate all the support I can get! This page is not just to raise money, but to also spread awareness of this disease.

My nephew, Jacob, is now 4 years old and is a rockstar! He was diagnosed as a baby with Dravet. He has overcome many challenges and been mostly seizure free for awhile now. He has 2 strong parents and 2 younger brothers by his side supporting him along with loads of other family members who love him deeply.

What on earth is Dravet? Never heard of it? Well, Dravet syndrome is a rare, catastrophic, lifelong (they do not out-grow it) form of epilepsy. Children are diagnosed within the first year of life after having frequent and/or prolonged seizures.

Some of the most common issues kids with Dravet have to handle are:

• Prolonged and/or frequent seizures
• Behavioral and developmental delays
• Movement and balance issues
• Orthopedic conditions
• Delayed language and speech issues
• Growth and nutrition issues
• Sleeping difficulties
• Chronic infections
• Sensory integration disorders
• Disruptions of the autonomic nervous system (which regulates things such as body temperature and sweating)

Patients with Dravet syndrome face a 15-20% mortality rate due to SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy), prolonged seizures, seizure-related accidents such as drowning, and infections.

If you would like to know more there is a ton more information dravetfoundation.org/what-is-dravet-syndrome.

I can't express enough how amazing these kids are and how much they deserve a cure. A fighting chance. So, I'm asking you to join me this month in giving up a cup of coffee or tea. Donate it to an organization that you know you can feel good about. I promise you won't regret it and you'll mean more than you know to so many lives!

Together we can make a difference! We thank you in advance from the bottom of our hearts!

With lots of love - Carey Rodvold & Family
