Join us at Raise New York on Friday, May 10th from 7-9 PM for the 3rd Annual Purple for Penny Open Bar Fundraiser as we raise money and awareness for Purple for Penny and the Dravet Syndrome Foundation!
As many of you know, our friends Greg and Wendy have a daughter, Penny, who is almost 4 years old now. Penny was diagnosed with Dravet Syndrome when she was 8 months old. Dravet is a rare, lifelong condition that currently has no cure. It typically begins with prolonged febrile seizures in infancy and can progress to include many neurological, cognitive, developmental and behavioral complications. To help manage her seizures she is on a strict ketogenic medical diet, where every meal she eats must be weighed to the 0.1 gram and consists mostly of fats and oils. While Penny still battles seizures daily, she radiates happiness as she cracks jokes, dances in ballet class, and sings along to Katy Perry.
In addition to the 2 hour open bar, there will be a specialty cocktail and food specials with proceeds from all going directly to Purple for Penny (benefiting the Dravet Syndrome Foundation to help fund research and support for affected families). We'll also have a silent auction like last year so get ready for some awesome swag!
